I got started in wine appreciation when I almost got embarrassed.
I was at a business dinner, and somehow the lot fell to me to choose the wine, and I knew nothing. I scanned the wine list for something, anything to help me save face. Suddenly I saw a Chenin Blanc, which I recognized from bid whist parties we used to have when I lived in Chicago. Thankfully, everyone liked it, but I vowed to never again get caught flat-footed like that. So I took a mini wine course over three Friday evenings, then moved on to a full-blown wine course over several weeks, and the rest is history. I don’t know everything, but I know enough to enjoy and share with other folks like you.
